Palm Sunday

So - here we go. It's early Sunday morning. The deer are rummaging for food in the back yard. I am checking out my Facebook page and drinking coffee. Wondering - why have I created a blog site? Actually, I have wanted to for some time but time is sometimes a robber of life. I guess I do have some control over that - it just seems easier to blame time than be responsible for managing it.

Yesterday I read Luke 23:45-54. I really like his book in the bible because he gets right to the point. Actually, I would start with verse 26 and read through the end of the book. One verse that caught my attention more than any other was 24:45, "Then he opened their minds"... God opened their minds. I'm sure the minds of those present were whirling. In verse 37 it says "they were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost."

Oh my! I am looking out my window and seeing Palm Sunday snow. Stink!

Further down in verse 41 it says they still did not believe. They had all sorts of emotions and thoughts: amazement, joy, fear, being startled means your heart is racing. Then Jesus ask for food and eats. Jesus then lovingly reminds them about the fulfillment of the Word. "Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures" He told them: "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things."

God opened their minds! As I reflect on this I am so thankful that God loves me enough to open my mind to reveal His truths to me. To reveal His unending love for me and to reveal His plan for me in my life. I must be obedient to be still and rest in Him. To know that I am on a live long journey with my Lord and Savior.
